DPE architecture is a practice built around the belief that good residential architecture should be led by the building, the place, and the people who live there, not by fashion or formula.
Founded by Douglas Evans, the practice has spent many years working on high-end residential projects across London, from sensitive alterations to period terraces in Muswell Hill and Mile End to contemporary extensions and new builds in Hertfordshire. That work has been defined by a commitment to design quality, careful detailing, and an understanding that the best homes feel inevitable, as if they could not have been done any other way.
In recent years, the practice has extended its reach into Suffolk and the Home Counties. The move has brought a new set of buildings and landscapes from timber-framed farmhouses, thatched cottages, barn conversions, and the same approach that served the practice well in London serves it equally well here. The buildings are different, the discipline is the same.
DPE architecture works across the full range of residential project types: extensions and alterations, barn conversions, listed building work, coastal and AONB projects, and new-build schemes. Wherever the project, the starting point is always the same, a careful look at what is already there, and a clear idea of what it could become.
